B.Sc-Fashion and Apparel Design, also known as B.Sc-FAD is a three year Undergraduate degree programme divided into six semesters that covers various aspects of fashion, design, and textiles such as Garment Detailing, Fundamentals of Fashion Design, Textile Science, Textile Testing, Wet Processing, Surface Ornamentation, Export Trade and Documentation, Visual Merchandising, Fashion Marketing and Merchandising, Fashion Business Management , Portfolio Presentation etc.

B.Sc –FAD was introduced under the banner of VET First Grade College in the year 2004. The purpose of this course is to tell how the fashion works from Concept to Consumer.

A candidate seeking admission to first year B.Sc degree in fashion and Apparel Design shall have passed the Pre University examination of Pre University Board of Karnataka or any other equivalent examination. The candidate with three years diploma in Apparel Design and Fabrication Technology/ Fashion Technology / Fashion Design/ Costume Design and Dress Making/ Costume and Fashion Design are considered as equivalent and recognized by the state or Central Government are eligible for admission directly to third semester of B.Sc-FAD course.

Fashion design graduates have the opportunity to work in various fields within the fashion industry, according to their area of specialization and interest or can choose to pursue a post graduate degree in Fashion Design such as M.Sc-Textiles & Clothing, M.Sc- Apparel Technology & Management and M.Sc Fashion Design.

The fashion design team at VET includes experienced, efficient, dedicated and outstanding faculty who support and promote excellence by focusing on student achievements, quality teaching and the right balance of curricular and extra- curricular activities. The faculty with its quality teaching both in theoretical and practical aspects is focused on developing creativity and skills of the students, to prepare them for different portals of fashion industry.

Faculty, as mentors are encouraging the students to excel in their areas of interest and develop their knowledge through their field trips, industrial visits, educational tours etc.

The department is known for its academic distinction, achieving university ranks every year. Most of their faculties are into Board of Studies and Board of Examinations, rendering their services at the university level. The department conducts workshops, seminars, short term courses at regular intervals for faculty and students.
