Shramadana- National Service Scheme at VET First Grade College has a vibrant and dynamic organization dedicated to fostering a sense of social responsibility and community engagement among our students. As an integral part of the university, the NSS unit strives to instil the values of service, empathy, and leadership in our young minds.

This unit nurtures socially conscious and responsible citizens who actively contribute to the welfare of society through variety of community service initiatives and outreach programs, aimed to create a positive impact on the lives of those in need and promote a culture of compassion and inclusivity.

The NSS unit of VET First Grade College started in the year 2012-13 with 100 volunteers in association with Bangalore University. The prime objective of the unit is introducing students to social, economic and welfare activities. The unit has successfully organized many programs from the day of inception which includes regular activities and special camp activities.

NSS is a voluntary association of college to work for campus – community linkages. The main aim of NSS is to develop students’ personality through community services. The NSS unit of VET First Grade college. The NSS unit of VET first Grade college is a platform for the students for community service and nation building task. A variety of activities are organised every year to educate students and society regarding various issues, to motivate people to work towards a clean environment.

To build the youth with the mind and spirit to serve the society and work for the social uplift of the down-trodden masses of our nation as a movement.

MISSION


The National Service Scheme has been functioning with the motto “NOT ME BUT YOU” in view of making the youth inspired in service of the people and hence NSS Aims Education through Community Service and Community Service through Education.

Objectives:

  • Understand the community in which they work.
  • Understand themselves in relation to their community.
  • Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving process.
  • Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.
  • Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solution to individual and community problems.
  • Develop competence required for group living and sharing of responsibilities.
  • Gain skills in mobilizing community participation.
  • Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude.
  • Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters and Practice National integration and social harmony.
  • Practice national integration and social harmony.

NSS Regular Activities:

The regular activities include medical camps, eye camps, Chinnaraloka activities, Green Day, Independence Day Camp, Gandhi Jayanthi, Martyrs Day, Blood Donation Camp, Vivekananda Jayanthi, Exams made easy for class 10th from various schools, a rally creating awareness about girl child and stopping abuse against them, awareness about chain snatching in association with J.P.Nagar Police station, Kannada Rajyayotsava, Ambedkar Jayanthi, Swachh Bharath and city clean programs and many more.

Awareness Drives on Public Health & hygiene, Free Health and Eye Checkup in association with Shekhar Nethralaya, Physiotheraphy camp in association with RV Physiotheraphy College, Painting of government school were organized in adopted villages during 7 days NSS Special Camp in remote villages outskirts of Bangalore.

Books & Stationary Distribution to students, competitions conducted for women at village to imbibe gender equity.

Cycle rally’s-Walkathon, Free Masks and Sanitizer Distribution, Observation of Matrys day, Gandhi Jayanthi, International Women's Day, World AIDS Day International Yoga Day, Environmental day, Green day, Ambedkar jayanthi, Basavajayanthi, Tobacco and drugs awareness drive, water Awareness drives, Cauvery Calling Fund Raising and donation for Uthar Karnataka Flood relief

Community Service Projects

Shramadana- NSS unit regularly organizes and participates in a wide range of community service projects from environmental conservation and health awareness campaigns to educational initiatives and skill development programs and committed to address the diverse needs of the community.

Social Awareness Campaigns

We believe in the power of awareness to drive positive change. NSS unit conducts social awareness campaigns on issues such as environmental sustainability, gender equality, and civic responsibility through workshops, seminars, and outreach events, we strive to educate and empower individuals to make informed choices.

Skill Development Workshops

As part of our commitment to holistic development, we organize skill development workshops to equip our volunteers with practical skills that will not only benefit them personally but also enhance their ability to contribute meaningfully to society.
